Jackie Kearns

Jackie Kearns is a 24 year old artist working from North Adams, Massachusetts. Jackie received her BFA, concentration in painting, from the University of Massachusetts in 2009. She traveled abroad with the school in 2008, studying and painting from the south of France up to Paris. She currently finds her inspiration right from her apartment in North Adams, Massachusetts.

Jackie works with charcoal, oil, and acrylic paint, often all on the same canvas. She wants to create a dance between line, color washes, and shapes and aims to stop painting when that energy is at its peak, even if all of the information isn’t down yet, often creating an unfinished quality. Though the subjects of the piece are secondary in importance, they often represent Jackie’s relationship between herself and the outside world. When she paints what she sees outside her window, it may be symbolic for a narrow view or disconnect between herself and life outside of herself.

Jackie paints to create visual balanced energy and also to help express her relationship between herself and her environment.
